These photographs were taken in New York, Shanghai, Seoul, and Jeju-do between 2005 and 2008.
They were shot with a Canon Powershot S70 digital camera and processed in Photoshop CS on a 20" iMac. I sat on these photographs for nearly two decades both unwilling to share and finding other photographs to trump what was the ever-changing "final cut". Mostly, I was unwilling to share these with strangers as I found them to be intensely personal—many of them intimate—and interesting only to me. Some early feedback when sharing was, "It's just trash!" This and other sentiments at the time made me pull these back. There were also technological, time, and relationship hurdles causing additional interference. Yet, I love these still even though I shot two of them twenty years ago this month. It is this continued love for these photographs and the idea of three different world perspectives and our focuses on them (with most people missing the upworld and downworld completely), that I found myself with no hurdles and the drive to at last share these worlds with others.
